We did it!

We did it. We finally found the perfect conversion van. Low mileage, very clean, just perfect.....and then the minute we pulled into our driveway after making the big purchase. The phone was ringing. Low and behold it was the person with the ideal motor home calling us back. They had been out of town and the the Winnebago Rialta was still available. :o( .... now what? Should we go look at it? What if we like it better than our conversion van. Will we be able to sell this one quick enough to get that one? Should we even bother to look at it? Oh dear, I guess we have to know what our option could have been or might be. Off we go with our new van to look at the motorhome. Well, long story short it was perfect inside. Very very clean and had everything you would ever need for camping but it just didn't feel as safe for our long journey. The very last thing I want to do is sit on the side of the road in a broken down motorhome. Our beautiful conversion van will do the job and we can always upgrade to a motorhome after we have more traveling experience.

The beginning of our cross - country trip

If driving across the country is as difficult as trying to find the right vehicle. This is going to be an interesting road trip. My husband and I have looked at everything from a SUV to a Motor Home. Working within a certain budget also makes the descision more difficult. We need something that doesn't have too many miles, gets reasonable gas mileage, rides comfortably and could tow a light weight trailer. Yesterday we had test drive number 243 ( just joking) and drove a conversion van. It was very clean, low mileage and comfortable. ( But no potty) It was perfect until we pulled back in their driveway and the steering column wouldn't go into park. Just a small glick said the guy. Hmmm a small glick could be a big one if we are parked on a hill in Colorado. Perhaps we should let a mechanic check this out first. We saw the perfect small motor home on craig's list but the people won't call us back. It would be nice if they at least told us that it has been sold. Then we saw another small motorhome that was very nice inside but the gas mileage was so bad that we could stay in hotels for a year and not waste as much money. I think I am tired before the trip has begun.

FYI

Fed Up with High Taxes, Bloated Budgets, and Pork?

government1We are organizing a tax protest “tea party” to take place on April 15, 2009 at Central Plaza, Towne Center (across from Senator Webb’s Office) Virginia Beach, VA. This is a non-partisan event designed to be creative and effective. Our representatives are not listening to us on the bailout, TARP, the stimulus A.K.A. “porkulus” bill, and now the 3+ trillion dollar budget. We in effect have “taxation without representation”. Both major parties are to blame. Our children and grandchildren will pay the price with their future. Our country is being sold to foreign interests through bonds.

This has got to stop. Washington is on a spending orgy. ”Going forward” is become code for “we will do what we want, call it what we want, and give the public meaningless verbage about responsibility. Later. When it’s convenient for us”.

It doesn’t matter if you are a low-tax, fair-tax or flat tax supporter. Our country is on a tipping point. Our Founding Fathers were keenly aware of the addictive power of government and sought to limit it. They took a bold move and created a nation unlike any other in the history of the world. It’s a precious heritage. We need to protect it.
