On the road again

We will be leaving for our cross country trip in the morning. My son, Greg will be staying here at the house to hold the fort down. Our first stop will be in Buena Vista, VA to see my cousin and Aunt then on to Nashville, Tennessee.

Update

It has been awhile since I last updated my blog. We have been very busy since our trip to Florida. My Italian Greyhound had 5 puppies, Aunt Ann has needed a little more intensive care and we have been preparing for our cross-country trip. I will try to post pictures and blog about that trip as we travel. We will be leaving the end of April and hope to be in Carson City, Nevada by May 10th. We have a home health nurse coming several times a week to care for Aunt Ann while we are gone and our son will be living here to watch over things.

Getting Ready to get ready for our trip

The conversion van is sort of becoming a motor home. Well, at least we think so. We took the two captain seats out of the back of the van. Then we bought a 5' x 7' area rug and a foot stool that also has storage space. Next we took the legs off my old dressing table / desk. We will mount a small microwave on top plus leave room for my lap top computer. After all, I have to be able to blog about our trip. Right? We are putting an extra battery and an inverter for power. The back seat folds down to make a bed and the only thing that we are missing is a potty. But we will figure that one out. Finally the finishing touch was a curtain that will give complete privacy. Don't worry we will be staying in motels too. But if we find suitable campgrounds we are prepared.

We did it!

We did it. We finally found the perfect conversion van. Low mileage, very clean, just perfect.....and then the minute we pulled into our driveway after making the big purchase. The phone was ringing. Low and behold it was the person with the ideal motor home calling us back. They had been out of town and the the Winnebago Rialta was still available. :o( .... now what? Should we go look at it? What if we like it better than our conversion van. Will we be able to sell this one quick enough to get that one? Should we even bother to look at it? Oh dear, I guess we have to know what our option could have been or might be. Off we go with our new van to look at the motorhome. Well, long story short it was perfect inside. Very very clean and had everything you would ever need for camping but it just didn't feel as safe for our long journey. The very last thing I want to do is sit on the side of the road in a broken down motorhome. Our beautiful conversion van will do the job and we can always upgrade to a motorhome after we have more traveling experience.
